Gwen Schuit, Healthcare Administrator
As the Meadow Ridge Administrator, my greatest joy comes from seeing the Residents, their families and our Team Members happy, fulfilled and satisfied. I was extremely touched being able to accompany a lovely female Resident at our Harvest Moon event in the fall. We had a wonderful time talking, learning and laughing together. When we returned, the Resident hugged me and said, “I wish this day would never end. This is exactly what I needed and I hope we can do something together again.”

Sherre Bechtold, Resident Care Assistant
I’m here to help Residents with their daily tasks like grooming, getting dressed, showers and whirlpool baths, and anything else they need assistance with. The most enjoyable part of my job is the daily one on one contact with each Resident and being able to hear all the wonderful stories about their past experiences.

Elaine Campbell, Activities Coordinator
It is my job and pleasure to plan and implement activities and programs that help enrich the lives of our Residents? One program called Dream Catchers, was designed to help a Resident do something very special. A few months ago, a Girl Scout council that a Resident and I had worked for, held a retirement ceremony for some employees. We found out that our Resident had hired many of those employees, so we arranged to take her to the ceremony where she was also honored for her contributions. On the way home she turned to me and said “this is better than any medicine I could ever take.” |

Kathie Heller, LPN
I love the interaction with the Residents and hearing their life stories and my granddaughters like coming in for visits. This past summer they attended a tea party hosted by one of our Residents and they loved it. I brought them in at Christmas-time when they were wearing plaid skirts, and one Resident decided to change into a plaid skirt too. She then told my granddaughters the history behind the plaid skirts and what the colors mean.

Wegayhu Ketema, LPN
Ministering to and serving Residents is what I enjoy most about my job. Since coming here from Ethiopia in 1989, this country and Willow Valley have given me so much, so I enjoy giving back by serving the generations before me. I’ve also have the pleasure of watching Residents blossom after they settle in to their new home here. There is such a dramatic change in the Residents’ appearance and social life, it’s wonderful to see.

Arlene Krope, Resident Care Assistant
I love being able to assist Residents with tasks that are too difficult for them. The appreciation they feel and show makes my job very special. Working at Meadow Ridge is like having a huge extended family and each day is unique and special in its’ own way.

Ashley Mattis, Resident Care Assistant
Knowing that I can make a difference in somebody’s life by just helping them with their daily needs is a great feeling. Sometimes when I am not scheduled to work, I’ll bring in my baby. The Residents love to see him and are always asking when I’m going to bring him in again.

Brian Mowrer, Maintenance Man
My grandparents are about the same age as most of the Residents at Meadow Ridge. If I had to choose anywhere for them to live, it would be right here. When you know your loved one can enjoy a superior quality of life and is able to get the help and support that they need anytime of the day or night, then you have real peace of mind.

Cheryl Phillips, Resident Care Assistant
The care I offer Residents is the same care I would like to receive if I were a Resident at Meadow Ridge. It’s my pleasure to be able to help Residents cope with the emotional and sometimes difficult transition from one home to another. I try to picture myself in their shoes, and I offer a listening ear, a helping hand, and a warm smile to every Resident that comes through the doors and encouragement to their families as well.

Lindsey Rawlings,
Social Worker/Admission Associate
So many other jobs in the social work field are thankless, but working with Seniors and their families at Meadow Ridge is full of thanks and praise. I could write a book about all the memorable experiences I've had, but it's the little things that I treasure the most. One time I laughed so hard with a Resident that we couldn’t stop laughing...we were in tears!

Amy Schultz, LPN
I feel like I’m giving back to the best generation ever! I hear wonderful stories and get to interact with great people. I truly love all of the residents and love being able to care for them. Hearing their stories, helping when someone is sick, seeing activities put a smile on someone’s face, and interacting with families are all parts of my job I love.

Lisa M. Shellenberger, LPN
I enjoy the opportunities to give; whether it be a hand to hold, time to listen, sharing a laugh, assisting with an activity or with health education. I especially like seeing the residents enjoying each other’s company while cooking and baking in the country kitchens. It’s such a pleasurable family atmosphere.

Shelby Shenk, Receptionist/RCA
I love my job and look forward to coming to work each day. I enjoy meeting and talking with residents and their families–learning to know their needs so I can help make Meadow Ridge a comfortable home for them. Just recently a family member of a resident lost a loved one. I was able to share and grieve with this family every time they came to visit.

Maggie Supeck, Administrative Assistant
Every day at Meadow Ridge is an adventure. I love spending time with and getting to know our Residents. It is so rewarding to observe those Residents who actually seem to grow “younger” when they come to Meadow Ridge. The camaraderie between Residents and the Team Members is extraordinary.

Helen Tawney, CNA/RCA
Every Team Member at Meadow Ridge is here because they enjoy what they do. We work well together and we have a helpful and caring Administrator who listens to our ideas and genuinely cares about the quality of life the Residents enjoy. That’s why after a new Resident moves in they say, “Why didn’t I do this before? I love it here.” And so do I!

Kim Weaver, LPN
I find a great satisfaction helping Residents resolve a medical problem. I love the feeling I get when trying to help them enjoy this chapter of their lives. Whether it’s looking after their health and safety or helping them retain their dignity while they adjust to the changes they’ve had to make, it’s all very rewarding.
